At last....It was an interesting day! They first tested electrodes to see if its working. It was awesome to see how it works. The computer connected to my CI. All channels (22 channels) works... During the surgery - 18 out of 22 channels works and now all of them. That is exciting.
They said - now we test to see if your brain works together with CI. Oh my friggin gosh!!! IT WAS LOUD. I had to put up with it for one minute!!! Then rep of cochlear implant company, her name was M, M said - can you hear me, 1, 2, 3, 4.. I said Yes I can her you but with a lot of electrically noise and it is very high pitch. M smiled and said it works!!! She said - electronically noise will beside within days, weeks or even months. I said - I'm praying just a few days!! I couldn't believe I can hear other room using credit card machine whatever they are doing. I asked M and my audiologist - other M-- let me say Mo. Mo smiled and explained what it was. I was shocked. I could hear Hollie's giggle. She has cute giggle!! It made me laugh. They did programing in my processor to meet my need. M and Mo, they said - we have to start with soft sounds first to work with brain.
M tested - cover her mouth and make me listen - shoes, hot dog and ice cream cone. I aced it! Whew... (that was easy!) just because its one word - not in sentence. I would flunk in sentences! Anyway...
I drove back home happy. There is so many things that I never KNEW!!!! What I was shocked about is my pager.... every time you click/button on each letter, it make noise. Now I feel bad, during movie or show - they warned us not to use cell phone or pager. I just ignored and go ahead using pager. Several people who sit by me - gave me a look. I was like - excuse me it doesn't make noise -- so quit it and stop giving me a look. OOOOPPSSS.. sorry people!!! I didn't know it does make noise... oops.... That is exciting for me and I'm learning the sounds - where and what is it. Amazing...
The electronically noise finally beside but not 100%. At least there is a process. The best part for now - no headache :o)
Funny part about kids! let's start with Mikaela...
She asked - what is that? on your head. I explained - remember I had surgery couple weeks ago all that.
Mikaela: Can you hear me?
Me : yes I can hear you
Mikaela: Means I can't fool around in the bedroom at night time
Me: What do you mean by that? (I'm aware that Mikaela and Kyron have been fooling around in the bedroom at night time for about 15 minutes - my mom warned me but rather to leave them alone as no one is hurt)
Mikaela: uh oh.. I wasn't suppose to tell you - that kyron and I always playing around in the bedroom at night time.
Me: ohhhh.... you both did....
Mikaela: but .. but now we can't because you will hear us...
(hahahahaha)
with Kyron - in the bathroom...
Kyron: What is that? (pointing at the CI on my head)
Me: it helps me to hear
Kyron: Can you hear me?
Me: Yes I can...
Kyron with smile - with loud Aaaahhhhhh
Me: (jumped - acting) yes I can hear you aaaahhhhh
Kyron (laughing)(no voice) aaaahhh
Me: can't hear you
Kyron (his eyes were wide open with a big smile): you can hear me... then game continue.
Interesting how he tested me to hear the noise or not...
Next week, I will need to go audiology for other mapping.
That's all for now...

Congrats on both an amazing little girl AND being able to hear your kids. Look how quick her little hands are, signing the names in the song. What a cutie.
And I can't believe all 22 channels are working. I really hope the background noise starts to calm down. Can you turn off the CI at times if you want?

i'm so thrilled for you and the kids! when i read what you wrote about hearing hollie's giggle, i tried to tell melanie the story but started to cry. i just can't imagine how incredible it must be for you to hear sounds for virtually the first time, especially the voices of your wife and kids. just incredible!!
Kj - no we didnt videotaping.
f- yes i can remove the CI processor at anytime if I don't want to hear any noise ;o)
everyone - thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness.

I'm so very happy for you. I can only imagine what it must be like to experience sounds for the first time. And all at once! Wow, that is really amazing. Rain falling, thunder, music, birds chirping, your kitty cat purring...all those things hearing people take for granted. Enjoy them! And most of all, enjoy the beautiful voices of your wonderful family!
